Entrepreneur Immigration:
People with business management experience and having certain net worth and who plan to do business in Canada can apply for business immigration to Canada. If you are looking to move to Canada as an entrepreneur in the Canadian economy, the Canadian government, and certain Canadian provinces have several attractive options for you.
- The Start-Up Visa Program encourages entrepreneurs to immigrate and grow their companies in Canada. Successful applicants liaise with many organizations in private sector in Canada, where they can obtain support, funding, guidance and expertise in opening and operating their businesses in Canada. Canada has targeted potential entrepreneurs with the Start-Up Visa Program, to build new companies that can compete globally and create jobs.
- The Quebec Business Immigration to Canada categories for Entrepreneurs are designed to provide the opportunity to qualified business owners and managers to obtain permanent residence in Canada, as long as they are able to create or acquire a commercial or industrial business or an agricultural business, in the province of Quebec.
- Provincial Entrepreneur Programs: Provinces of Canada provide a list of business program categories within their Provincial Nominee Programs. By one of these immigration programs, foreign entrepreneurs may settle down in a particular province.
Canada Self Employed Immigration:
These programs allow self-employed people with valuable experience in certain trade and technology professions to apply for migration through a Canadian business.
The Canadian government, along with the provincial government of Quebec, is providing migration programs to self-employed individuals people in certain industries. To be eligible to immigrate to Canada on the Self-Employed Program, the applicant must demonstrate their relevant artistic, athletic, or agricultural, experience that will permit the applicant to successfully be self-employed in Canada and make a valuable contribution to their field.
Start-Up Visas:
With financial support from Canadian investment organizations, people with a unique business plan can get this visa. The Start-Up Visa program provides foreign entrepreneurs with permanent residence while helping them establish themselves in Canada. The program encourages immigrant entrepreneurs to grow their companies in Canada. Successful applicants liaise with organizations in the private sector in Canada, where they can obtain support, funding, guidance and expertise in opening and operating their businesses in Canada.
Eligibility Requirements:
The purpose of this program is to recruit new foreign entrepreneurs who will create new jobs and promote economic growth. To be eligible, First Visa applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Meet minimum language requirements in English or French (CLB 5 in all abilities);
- Have sufficient funds to settle in Canada;
- Plan to settle in a province other than the Province of Quebec;
- Pass Canadian security and medical clearances;
- Prove your business is supported through a designated organization; and
- Show your business meets ownership requirements.
No more than five foreign nationals may apply for permanent residence as part of the same business venture under the Start-Up Visa Program.
Investment Details:
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has designated a number of venture capital funds, angel investor groups, and business incubator organizations to participate in the Start-Up Visa program. Successful applicants are required to secure a minimum investment for their Canadian start-up.

If you come from a designated Canadian venture capital fund, the investment should be at least $ 200,000. If you come from a group of the angel investor group, it should be at least $ 75,000. Applicants are not required to secure any investment in a business incubator. However, applicants must be accepted into a Canadian business incubator program.
Applicants do not have to invest any of their money. If their Start-up in Canada is not successful, people who have been granted permanent residence through this program will retain their permanent residence statistics.
Evidence of Commitment:
In order to prove that the applicant has received financial assistance from a business incubator, venture capital fund, or angel investor group, the investor organization must submit a completed commitment Certificate directly to the IRCC. This document covers information about the agreement between the applicant and the investment organization. The purpose of this certificate is to summarize the relevant details of the commitment between the applicant and the investment organization.
In addition, the applicant will receive a letter of support from the investment organization, which the applicant is required to submit to his / her application for permanent residency.
As this is a pilot program, it will process only 2,750 applications per annum. In addition, the duration of the program is limited to five years. If the pilot program comes out to be successful, the Government of Canada may choose to establish a permanent Visa for Start-up Program before the end of the five-year period.
Business Provincial Nomination:
Depending on the Province, a number of business immigration to Canada programs can be offered from those who want to do business in that province. Many provinces have business immigration options that are part of their Provincial Nominee Program (PNPs). Moreover, the Canadian Government and Quebec operate popular immigration programs.
Provinces can nominate qualified business immigrants to become permanent residents. - Quebec Entrepreneur Program — A new application intake period began on November 1, 2020, and is scheduled to run until September 30, 2021, for Stream 1. The intake of permanent selection applications for Stream 2 of the program has been suspended.
